VQUZESHUF
Here is the link to where i posted the infamous.... VQUZESHUF ....on a random persons blog
Response to required blog: Attention Max
http://www.attentionmax.com/blog/2008/05/new_york_mtas_metrocard.php
The blog discusses how a few monthes ago you would get a $2 bonus for every $10 put on the card. Now, according to this blog and the MTA site:
Put $7 or more on your card and receive a 15 percent bonus. For example, a $20 purchase gives you $23 on your card. 11 trips for the price of 10, with $1 balance. Refill your card to use the balance.
The issue at hand with the new pricing is not only the hike in prices but the one dollar balance. The blogger beleives that the $1 balance is unfair because when swiped it will say 'insuffient fair' leaving the user to believe there is no money on it. I do not think this is unfare because there are price hikes in everything these days, why is MTA different? Also, in regards to the $1 balance, if the user keeps track of the amount of money and the way the system works they will know that there is a $1 balance and that balance will still be there when adding money to the card.

Ethical Issues in Attorney Advertising
Current Ethical Issues in Attorney AdvertisingPractical Ethics Article: April 8, 1992
http://www.nhbar.org/pdfs/PEA4-92.pdf
Despite the fact this blogs main topic is new and old music, it is for my Internet Marketing course. Throughout the semester we have had to post four blogs relating to our outside group topic (Legal and Ethical Issues in Marketing). In my previous blogs on this topic and with this one included, I have tried my hardest to incorporate music into these posts to relate it to my blog. There are 100's of articles out there strictly relating to the legal and ethical issues involving marketing but in order to make it a little more interesting I have been finding articles on legal and ethical issues pertaining to the marketing/advertising of music or more specific issues.
This is my last post on this topic and I put a great deal of time into finding the last article I wanted to write about. The link posted in this blog is to a peer reviewed areticle that I found particularly interesting. The article is in regards to attorney
advertising and the use of the First Amendment. The issue as hand is how the First Amendment is used to protect attorney advertising from state restrictions. By doing this the guidlines set by the Rules of Professional Conduct have not been followed.Lawyers for a long time had been advertising in any means as they have pleased which will soon come to an end with the implementation of new rules regarding the Aspirational Goals of law firms and attorney advertising.
I know this article has nothing to do with music like the others ones regarding legal and ethical issues in marketing have but this is a very interesting article to check out. My major is criminal justice so articles like these bringing about knowlege in different aspects of merging fields are very interesting to me.
I hope you have the time to check it out if you are interested at all topics like these.
Thanks :) VQUZESHUF
Lil Wayne

WEEZY F BAYYYBAYYYY!This blog was made to fulfill an assignment for my internet marketing course. The course is now comming to and end and there will be few future posts. With that said I took a look at all my past posts to see who else I should feature and discuss. While doing this I realized that I had not posted a single blog on a rapper. Rap may not really be my style but I cannot deny that weezy's ones of the best out there.
Dwayne Michael Carter Jr (Lil Wayne) was born in New Orleans on September 27 1982. He started his career rapping as part of the group Hot Boys, featuring Juvenile and two other artists in 1997. Weezy began his solo career in 2002 and only six years later has collaborated with nearly all the hottest names in the music industry. He has released six solo albums since his debut and will continue to be a very popular rapper. Weez is directly associated with Hot Boys, Birdman, Juelze Santana, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled,
TI, Fat Joe, Young Jeezy, Chamillionaire, the Game and more.Legal Issues Surrounding Music in Advertising
This link is not to an article but to a fourteen minute presentation made by Eric Corte. This interview is very informative, more so then any other article I have found regarding legal issues in advertising, particularly of music. Eric Corte works for Saatchi and Saatchi which is a prominent advertising agency. Corte made a trip to Loyola University to dicuss music in advertising. He discusses securing music in ads, legal issues and licensing. Vquzeshuf.
Legal and Ethical Issues in Advertising of Music

Allman Brothers Band

The bands style of music fits into the southern rock, blues-rock, and instrumental rock genres and they have been part of five different labels, Capricorn, PolyGram, Arista, Epic and
Sanctuary.- Duane and Gregg Allman's father was an Army sergeant. He was murdered in 1949 when Duane was 3 and Gregg was 2.
- Duane and Gregg are left-handed, but learned to play guitar right-handed.
- Early names for the band included The Escorts, The 31st of February, Hour Glass, Almanac, and The Allman Joys.
- Duane Allman and Barry Oakley died as a result of motorcycle accidents 3 blocks away from each other, Duane on October 29, 1971, Barry on November 11, 1972. Oakley did not die there. He got up, went home and hung out with his friends. Three hours later he died from a brain hemorrhage. Both were 24. They are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, Georgia, where the band would often jam.
- Gregg Allman shot himself in the foot in 1965 to avoid being sent to Vietnam. Duane was exempt from the draft because he was the oldest son and his father was dead.

- Their mushroom logo comes from the hallucinogenic mushrooms they took in their early years. Every member except Warren Haynes had it tattooed on his calf.
- The band is famous for their innovative jams and constant touring. They have always encouraged taping at their shows.
- Duane Allman named his daughter Galadrielle, after a character in J.R.R. Tolkein's Lord Of The Rings.
- They performed at the second Woodstock in 1994. They were going to attend the first
Woodstock as spectators, but decided not to fight the traffic.

10. Duane used an old-fashioned glass prescription pill bottle as a slide for his guitar. He kept it locked away in a briefcase while on the road, so as not to risk having it lost or broken in the course of handling all the larger equipment. Finding one that fit the finger, and also just happened to be the right length wasn't all that easy.

Death Cab for Cutie

Death Cab is a indie-pop group that formed in 1997 in Washington. The group has gained a great deal of popularity over time with their combination of relaxing sounds and up-beat tempos. My favorite album of the bands is their
most recent, 'Plans'. This as the first album they released while signed under Atlantic Records. Death Cab performed 'Soul Meets Body' and 'Crooked Teeth' on SNL short after its release in 2006. Band members include Ben Gibbard, Chris Walla, Nicholas Harner and Jason McGerr. An interesting fact about Ben Gibbard is that the popular band Postal Service is a product of one of his side projects.I am very excited to hear that Death Cab has a new album being released on May 13th. Some great tracks to check out include:
Soul Meets Body: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0hTJF7xqV0
Lyrics:
I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel what its like to be new
Cause in my head there’s a greyhound station
Where I send my thoughts to far off destinations
So they may have a chance of finding a place
where they’re far more suited than here
And I cannot guess what we'll discover
When we turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels
But I know our filthy hands can wash one another’s
And not one speck will remain
And I do believe it’s trueThat there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you’re the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body
And I do believe it’s true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you’re the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
What Sarah Said: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1SZvhCNIY0&feature=related
Crooked Teeth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3YmrfyS2MA
Lyrics:
It was one hundred degrees, as we sat beneath a willow tree,
Who's tears didn't care, they just hung in the air, and refused to fall, to fall.
And I knew I'd made horrible call,
And now the state line felt like the Berlin wall,
And there was no doubt about which side I was on.

Cause I built you a home in my heart,
With rotten wood, it decayed from the start.
Cause you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.
No you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.
I braved treacherous streets,
And kids strung out on homemade speed.
And we shared a bed in which I could not sleep,
At all, woo, hoo, woo, hooOoOo.
Cause at night the sun in retreat,
Made the skyline look like crooked teeth,
In the mouth of a man who was devouring, us both.
You're so cute when you're slurring your speech,
But they're closing the bar and they want us to leave.
And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.
No you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.
I'm a war, of head versus heart,
And it's always this way.
My head is weak, my heart always speaks,
Before I know what it will say.
And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.
There were churches, theme parks and malls,
But there was nothing there all along.

Legal Issues in the Advertising of Music
This article was published on February 28th regarding a lawsuit pending involving marketing firm, Signatures Network Inc. and a former employee. Signature currently holds or has held contracts with some major recording artists including Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake and more... They are being accused by a former employee of engaging in fraudulent practices that resulted in deprivation of its artists of millions of dollars in owed payments. A former CFO of the company has made these claims. He stated that while employed by the company the company was engaged in many fraudulent practices such as charging overhead costs to artists and more. When the CFO called the company out on their actions they fired him.

One of my fav bands of summer 07....
Alkaline Trio was a band that I was really into this past summer. Their album ‘Remains’ released in 2007. The album is a compilation of the bands best hits throughout the years including three shows live recorded. Alkaline Trio have been around for a pretty long time, releasing their first album back in 1998. I love the band, I love the group and the CD but LIVE! another story….
I went to Warped Tour this past summer and one of the groups I was looking forward to most was this band. Very disappointing live. Some of their songs you could hardly judge what song it was within the first 20 seconds. On a better note, the group is very enjoyable to listen when you’re in a good but relaxed mood.
Oh PS…I know the artwork on the cover is a little intimidating but there’s nothing intimidating about the music whatsoever ;)
Some of my favorites you should check out or DL...
Hell Yes, My Standard Break From Life, Dead End Road, Jacked On Green Beers, Old School Reasons... and

SHU Chapel Website Assignment

This post is just an assignment for my internet marketing course regarding the website our school has created for the new chapel it is building on our campus.
The question my group was presented with is as follows:
How would you improve this SHU Chapel site given the format limitations? By format limitations I mean the fact that the site has to respect the genera
l SHU website template.
I personally have several different ideas about how to go about renovating the format of the site without disrupting the general SHU template. For starters, being that the general SHU template is rater formal, the Chapel site should and does follow this format but it does so in a very boring uninteresting way. Rather then having a list on the left hand side of the site of things to read and check out about the Chapel, there should be tabs at the top of the site just like the main SHU page does. The list should be read across the top from right to left and have drop down menu's for the different sections of each subsection links. I also think that the link for the webcam should be an active one showing what is going on at the chapel before you even click on it. I think the sole purpose to click on it should be to enlarge it. Having the link be an active one it would give the site more livliness without changing anything about the SHU template.
The link that is labeled photo gallery and slideshows should not be a link but there should be a consistent pop-up picture on the Chapel site with the option to click and view all. Also, with this site I do not like how "download President Cernera's Narrated Video: A Vision for SHU" is just thrown in the middle of the page. This makes it look sloppy and out of nowhere. If it was more towards the top or under a different section of the site it would appear more organized and being sloppily placed on the site it takes away the importance SHU is trying to put on Cernera's video. I also would have the section at the bottom of the page to see the monthly archived videos be part of a separate tab, link, or what I think, a drop down menu because it just seems randomly placed on the bottom of the page. Vquzeshuf
Overall I do not like the way Sacred Heart constructed this site watsoever. Even if they obviously want to stick to the SHU template they could have done so in a more organized interesting manner. I do not like the SHU site template as a hole, the one they had in 2oo4-2005 was much more welcoming and warm rather then proper and dry.

Tribute to Sublime

I figured considering I've been slacking when it comes to blog posting, so I figure I owe my loyal dedicated readers (ha!) something good..... When it comes great music, I cannot continuing making posts without making a tribute to Sublime.
Sublime is a band that began its music career in the late 80’s. Their combination of genres, alternative rock, ska-punk, punk rock, reggae, reggae rock and hip hop made their music stand out because of its originality. Bradley Nowell was on the vocals and guitar, Bud Gaugh on the drums and Eric Wilson on the bass guitar. Earlier in the career Joe Gomez and Michael Happoldt were part of the bad for short periods of time on the drums and guitar. The band split up in 1996 after Bradley died of a heroine overdose in his hotel room.
The groups first album, 40 Oz’s to Freedom was released in 1992 under Bradley’s label, Skunk Records. The band sold this CD strictly at its shows and the group soon became very well known in the LA region. KROQ began to play the song “Date Rape” on their station further spreading and popularizing the groups name.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB6CUVnN-U4....link to hear/view "Date Rape"The second album, Robbin’ the Hood, was released in 1994 after being signed to MCA. This album was much more experimental as compared to the groups previous album.
Bradley died two months prior to the bands release of their third album in 1996. The album was self titled and was largely popular because of the song “What I Got”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sal-bp_ciC4...Link to "What I Got"
Despite the fact that the band broke up after Bradley’s death, Sublimes music is still very popular today. Hardcore fans all over still listen to their music and were saddened by the loss of the lead singer. I personally love Sublime and will continue to listen to their knowing that it’ll never get old. Envy On The Coast
Envy on the Coast is a band that I have come across recently that has caught my attention very quick. Due to the fact that I am from
Envy has toured with bands such as Agent Sparks, The Audition, Boys Like Girls, Emanuel, Hit the Lights, Saosin and was also part of MTV2’s $2 Bill tour.
I personally really enjoy the band and I think they will cash in quickly and gain a great deal of popularity over time due to the popular style that is around right now. Envy follows that general style but has something that stands out over other bands that follow that style which is its interesting original lyrics. I feel that this band has a ton of potential, they remind me of the earlier days of Brand New and if they keep this up they will be incredibly successful.
My personal favorite: The Gift of Paralsis...check it out at pure volume.... http://www.purevolume.com/envyonthecoast
Alarming to the senses,
as the scent of latex,
and blinding white lights greet me.
Withered, weak, and weary,
his bones are bare and brittle,
can't rid this taste of surgery...
of surgery, accusing me...
of perjury, like surgery correcting me.
I'm bouncing in and out of my body,
as my eyes roll in rhythm,
and they wish to focus,
but they can't bear to see.
Our eyes are paralyzed
as your legs are canonized
with the water from these seas.
To own a heart that's half of yours...
these bones are mere accessories.
The doctor swears he heard me
stutter as muttered a startling repetitious phrase.
And under anesthesia, I told him over and over again,
"This body's yours to keep," and though he swore to me,
he said he'd do as I please.
But I stand before you, upon these same selfish feet.
His neck, is shattered by the tides,
The ocean prays for his demise,
But I swear to you, I watched his heart pump blood into those veins...
...throwing punches...at ocean waves....
and as the tides retreat, I see the smile you see today...
...throwing punches...at ocean waves....

Some New Stuff

The Hint
The Hint is a band that I have recently taken a likeing to. Their music is very different and completely created by the band themselves. They have obtained a fan base through touring, especially overseas. Their newest album was released this past Valentines Day and has some songs that are very appealing to the ear. It is all pretty peppy, happy well-written music. Their newest CD 'They Can't Stop Us Now' can be purchased on iTunes or through Amazon.com.
Heres a preview, check them outhttp://www.purevolume.com/thehint/albums/99366447
Artist vs. Poet

This group is a two person ensamble that I have recently come across. The two have a great deal of talent and produce some great sound. The group is currently unsigned but will definatly a group to be making big moves within upcoming years. They are slowly picking up tour dates as they are being featured on The Young Guns Tour and finishing up on some in studio work with producer Geoff Rockwell. Download some of their stuff via iTunes, 'An Infallable Remedy' is one of my personal favorites.
New Releases by Flogging Molly
It is rare for one to not have heard of Flogging Molly. They are an Irish Punk band that came about in the late 90's. They are most famous for their upbeat Irish drinking music. One song, being a student of SHU that we are all familiar with is 'Rebels of the Sacred Heart'. Over the course of their ca
reer they have sold over a million and a half hard copies of their work. The talent of this group is well known, their style has been compared to a combination of The Dubliners and Johnny Cash. On March 4th Flogging Molly will be releasing yet another album, 'Floating'. Two songs that I have previewed off the album are unbelievable and prove that the album will be another success for the Irish Rockers.

JACK JOHNSON :)
I decided to make this weeks post on the one and only Jack Johnson. If you have heard his music it is incredibly relaxing and can easily put a smile on anyones face. Jack Johnson is 32 years old and was born in Oahu, Hawaii. Johnson started out as a professional surfer until he got into a bad accident at Pipeline losing all of his front teeth, needing 115 stitches.
This led him to pick up songwriting which was one of the smartest moves he could have made. He realeased his first album in 2001 topping the charts in New Zealand and Austrailia. Two years later he released another which was number one in New Zealand, number two in Austrailia and number three on the charts in the US. His popularity continuted to grow in great amounts with each record. By his third he was realising them under his own label, Brushfire Records.
His most current record, his fifth, was number one on the charts in the US, Austrailia, the UK, Canada and New Zealand.Johnsons also headlinging this year at Bonnaroo in Tennesee.
TRIP I WOULD LOVEE TO MAKE!
What makes Johnson so appealing is that he can pull off some legendary songs and still have people find them enjoyable. He has recorded versions of certain Bob Marley and Sublime songs.
Here are some songs he is most famous for:
Better together....

Comparison of Brand New: 2001 vs 2006

For anyone who listens to or has listened to Brand New, besides knowing their music is awesome, you know that there is a very large difference in the style between their origional album and the most recent album.
The first album, released in 2001 'Your Favorite Weapon' consists of several songs that Brand New is still known for today. One of these songs is Seventy times 7 which is one I dont think many people havn't heard. As most of us know it is a song in response to Theres No 'I' In Team by Taking Back Sunday. Jesse (lead singer of Brand New) uses so much hatred in his songs. What is confusing about Brand News response to TBS is that the term 70x7 is used in the Bible. In the bible the line is about love meanwhile this song is just the opposite of love. The terms 'Bono and U2 of hatred' have even been used to describe the feeling and power behind this song and the way Jesse pulls it off. Another song
the album and band are known most for is Jude Law and the Semester Abroad.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBG0CdUBRjI: SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ter_DbNHLwA: JUDE LAW AND THE SEMESTER ABROAD
The issue at hand with this band is the fact that their first album differs so greatly from its newest one "The Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me". In my opinion this album is beyond incredible. Its style is much more matured then their debut. The lyrics of the songs can leave you speechless and the intensity of the music itself proves that they are just more then your typical angry punk-pop group as they established themselves as in their earlier music. The sound of this album is much darker and they have totally revolutionalized what they were all about. Yes the music is still angry, but it is done in a much darker meaningful way. Some of my favorites off this album include Jesus Christ, Not the Sun, You Wont Know and Degausser.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa_1hVJHccU: JESUS CHRIST
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lfQO1NWRrc: NOT THE SUN
I'm personally in love with their recent album but what I would like to see if how people feel about the comparison.

A hole bunch of new stuff...

Heyyyy! I found a bunch of new stuff that I would like to share.
I found this new band Ivoryline. They are currently ranked number one on purevolumes top list of new signed artists. The bands first album 'There Came A Lion' hit the stores yesterday, February 5th. The band roots back to 2005, trying to make it big and seek attention in Texas. With a great deal of dedication and motivation they began creating awesome music with incredible lyrics categorized as rock/alternative/indie in style.
What I personally really enjoy about Ivoryline is that their songs can vary in sound from song to song. Some are more pop/punk-like and the next can have a more rock/metalcore style to it. I like when bands have varying sounds, it keeps the music from sounding repetitive and getting boring. It also gives a new band potential to attract listeners with different tastes.
Two songs you must download by this band are 'Remind Me I'm Alive' and 'Be Still and Breath'.
Both of these songs are off their first and new album and can be previewed at http://www.purevolume.com/ivoryline.
If you want to check out the lyrics to these songs to see a little more what the bands about heres some links....
http://www.rockpoplyrics.com/ivoryline/remindmeimalive.php
http://www.rockpoplyrics.com/ivoryline/bestillandbreathe.php
Another band that I have come accross recently that I think will gain a great deal of popularity in the near future is Pensive. The band categorizes itself as rock/alternative/powerpop. Their songs are all really upbeat and have similar sounds as other bands that have gained popularity recently who have the same sound. Despite the fact that theres a million and one bands out
there trying to make it big with this style of music I think this band will eventually make it to the top. They will not seek the approval of those who are into hardcore but some of their songs stand out as ones that will be hits in the future. The band is currently touring hoping to gain popularity and pick up a record label.I personally feel that some of their songs share the same sound as Fall Out Boys earlier music (before they started completely sucking. Sorry!) and one of their songs 'Live Fast' off their new album is one that sticks out to me eventhough I generally wouldn't personally listen to music like this. The song has a feel to it that early Taking Back Sunday had.
Check out their myspace:http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=4964079
And one more band I'm going to talk about due to popular demand lol is Shiney Toy Guns. My roomates started listening to this band and it wasn't at all what I expected. Their really isn't any music out right now that could really compare to this band. Its not the typical style of music I would listen to but their songs are really entertaining and have good beats. They are categorized as Indie/Rock/Electronica. Personally this music somewhat reminds me of a slower female/male version of Hellogoodbyes music. what I find most interesting about this band is that it has the ability to be relaxing yet have a techno/electronica sound to it which is something I have never heard before in any other band.Check out one of their party songs:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7gCRSH6sec
any suggestions for next post?
