The presented article discusses the legal issues regarding podcasting. Podcasting is the posting or transmitting an audio file to be downloaded and viewed/heard by other internet users either on a computer or MP3 player. Usually these audio files that are being transmitted are ones that are updated very regularly like radio broadcasts. Podcasting software can be found all over the internet and anyone can access it.
The issue with podcasting is that providing users with podcasts they are providing the user with muic and new music which can infringe upon copyright laws; the performance of a work; the playing of a sound recording of a performance; and the reproduction of a sound recording by incorporating it into a podcast are the ways it does.
What is now required is a series of copyrighting licenses to be obtained in order to make particular broadcastings available through podcast. Not obtaining proper licences can result in great penalties.
